Smith & Wesson .32-20 WCF Hand Ejector #91: America’s 100 Greatest Guns

The Smith & Wesson .32-20 WCF Hand Ejector is a somewhat rare variation of the popular Military & Police Model 1905. The Model 1905 was the third generation of the popular Smith & Wesson Military & Police Model 10, which the company first introduced in 1899 and would eventually become their most popular revolver.

Smith & Wesson designed both the Model 10 and the Model 1905 after the Colt M1889, which featured a swing-out cylinder and ejector rod to clear spent casings.

While the Military & Police revolver became the most successful revolver of the twentieth century, Smith & Wesson only produced roughly 200,000 of the .32-20 WCF version.

The gun remained in production from roughly 1905 to the beginning of World War II.

Today, collectors and Smith & Wesson enthusiasts actively seek out the .32-20 WCF and the gun commands a fairly substantial asking price. The .32-20 WCFs were primarily produced early on in the gun’s history and collectors often seek out these models before ones manufactured right before the war.

Like other Smith & Wesson Military & Police models, the .32-20 WCF features walnut or rubber grips and blue or nickel finish. The gun’s cylinder holds six rounds and shooters have noted it for its accuracy and reliability. Again, this gun remains one of the rarest revolvers.
